In a Greek myth, Uranus and his wife Gaia had a son named Cronus, among 17 other children. The parents fought over Uranus' cruel treatment of his children, and Gaia, wanting to punish him, fashioned a stone sickle and gave it to her youngest son, the Titan Cronus. While Uranus and Gaia laid in bed, Cronus ambushed Uranus and using his mother's sickle, castrated him. He then threw his father's severed genitals into the sea, around which a white foam spread and grew into Aphrodite, the goddess of love and beauty.
